Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
